Sage & Apple Cider Vinegar Natural Grey Hair Dye

For optimal results, it is recommended to enrich your sage hair rinse with some apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar, commonly known as ACV, has the ability to remove any residue build up in the hair, restore the natural pH balance, and it also works as great detangler and conditioner. There are a few types of sage, but garden sage works the best for this purpose.

You will need:

  • Tea kettle
  • Cruet bottle
  • Funnel
  • Bowl
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 handful of fresh sage leaves or 2 tbsp of dried sage
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar

Add Sage

If using fresh sage, remove it from the stems and pull them to pieces in order to release their natural oils. Then, simply put them in a bowl.

Make the sage tea

Boil two cups of water and the pour the boiling water over the herbs.

Steep for about 15-20 minutes and then allow it to cool.  In case you have a sore throat, save some of the tea and add a little bit of honey to treat your sore throat.

Add to vinegar

Strain the tea and add it to the vinegar. It is recommended to use a cruet bottle as it allows easier application.

How to use:

The best time to use this rinse is after shampooing.  Although vinegar has a strong smell, it is still better and safer than the chemical dyes.  Put your hand over a basin and apply the rinse. Let the hair drain and then re-use the rinse remained in the basin. Repeat this procedure a few times weekly. Besides darkening your hair, sage rinse will add shine to it as well!
